Columbine puppet
(Petrouchka ballet by Stravinsky)
2008

8" x 10" x 19"
wood, brass, stainless steel, fabric, printed cardstock

One of three puppets originally created for a production of the
puppet ballet, Petrouchka, written by Igor Stravinsky and
performed with the University of MD symphony. The other two characters include Petrouchka himself and a Moor, both of whom vie for Columbine's attention. The video segment depicts the second tableau, or act, in the ballet. Petrouchka is confined to his room for beating up on the Moor. He struggles with the psychological turmoil of his insecurity and love for the beautiful Columbine.
